#USASwimSquads Analysis after the TYR Pro Swim at Des Moines

The Adams Family, captained by two-time Olympian Cammile Adams, was the big winner in the #usaswimsquads competition last week at the TYR Pro Swim Series at Des Moines, scoring 93 points.

That was nearly 20 points ahead of the second-place team, The Beisel Bunch, which scored 73 points. Connor Jaeger’s Jaeg-Train and Maya DiRado’s DiRad Squad rounded out the field with 60 and 36 points, respectively.

Des Moines Results

After two stops on the TYR Pro Swim Series, the Adams Family is in first place overall with 194 points, followed by the Jaeg-Train with 148 points, the Beisel Bunch with 145 points and the DiRad Squad with 127 points.

The key swimmer for the Adams Family in Des Moines was Michael Andrew, who scored a perfect 20 points in the flex spot. Margo Geer and Kelsi Dahlia also had solid performances for Adams with 18 points each in the freestyle and butterfly events, and Gunnar Bentz turned in 17 points in the IM. The only weak point for the Adams family came in the 200 breaststroke, in which it scored 0 points.

The Beisel Bunch also had a perfect performance from Kathleen Baker in the backstroke, while Blake Pieroni and Jay Litherland scored 18 points each in the free and the IM. Team Beisel suffered setbacks in the breaststroke and the 100 butterfly, scoring 0 points in those disciplines.

Annie Lazor was the top swimmer for the Jaeg-Train, with a perfect 20 points in the breaststroke events. Jordan Wilimovsky finished second in two events for 16 points in the flex spot, while Melanie Margalis contributed 10 points with a win in the 200 IM. Jaeger had no swimmer in the backstroke, and also scored no points in the 400 IM and the 100 free.

Nic Fink scored 12 points in the breaststroke for the DiRad Squad as its top swimmer, followed by Bethany Galat with 11 points in the IM. No points in five different events – the backstroke, the 100 free, the 200 fly and the 50 breast – hurt DiRado.
