TAIPEI – Andrea Cottrell (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Cardinal Aquatics) led Team USA with a bronze-medal finish in the women’s 100-meter breaststroke on Tuesday at the 2017 World University Games.
Cottrell touched in 1 minute, 7.37 seconds to earn the United States’ eighth medal over the first three nights of competition. Japan’s Kanako Watanabe and Reona Aoki went 1-2 in 1:06.85 and 1:07.36, respectively, and Miranda Tucker (Plymouth, Mich./Club Wolverine) finished fifth in 1:07.90.

In other Tuesday finals, Veronica Burchill (Carmel, Ind./Athens Bulldog Swim Club) was sixth and Caroline Baldwin (Westfield, N.J./North Carolina) tied for seventh in the women’s 100m freestyle, Mitch D’Arrigo (Gainesville, Fla./Gator Swim Club) touched sixth in the men’s 200m free and PJ Ransford (Pittsford, N.Y./University of Michigan) took sixth in the men’s 1500m free.
