Carson Foster Nabs Second Win on Night Two of Speedo Junior Nationals

Carson Foster of Mason Manta Rays earned his second individual win of the meet in the men’s 200m back to highlight day two of the Speedo Junior National Championships at the Nassau County Aquatics Center.

Foster, who won the 200m fly last night, was the lone swimmer to break the 2:00 barrier in the 200m back, touching in 1:59.40 to top the A final this evening. Billings Aquatic Club’s Ethan Harder touched just outside 2:00, stopping the clock at 2:00.12, while Metro Atlanta Aquatic Club’s Chris Thames (2:01.44) rounded out the top three.

Meanwhile, Magnolia Aquatic Club’s Lucie Nordmann, a member of the national junior team, posted a dominant win in the women’s 200m back, touching the wall first in 2:10.99. Later on in the 100m free, she would finish second in 55.76, with Brea Aquatics’ Kenisha Liu taking the win in 55.36.  

Terrapins’ Alexei Sancov popped the only sub-50 swim of the day in the men’s 100m free final, hitting the wall at 49.78 ahead of Pleasantville’s Destin Lasco (50.46) and Lakeside’s Alexander Zettle (50.52).

The women’s 400m IM final came down to the final touch as three swimmers finished within .18 of each other. Metroplex’s Lindsay Looney picked up her second top two finish of the meet as she stopped the clock in 4:47.42, narrowly edging Long Island’s Kristen Romano (4:47.47). Aquazot’s Katie Glavinovich rounded out the top three (4:47.60).

Jake Foster gave Mason Manta Rays its second win of the night when he touched first in the men’s 400m IM in 4:19.40.

Austin Swim Club (3:47.87) and Mason Manta Rays (3:25.46) wrapped up the evening with wins in the respective women’s and men’s 4x100m free relays.
